“I’m so happy we decided to go with Blue Peter for our charter.
There’s something quite special about her.”

History
|
The M/V Blue Peter, is a classic fan-tail yacht built expressly for touring and sightseeing in the Pacific Northwest. Launched in 1928 from Lake Union Dry-dock in Seattle, she is a beautiful example of the finest in yacht design and construction of her day.
Blue Peter is named after a signal flag that was used by ships to indicate that they were getting ready to depart.
When a ship was planning to leave port soon, they would hoist a blue flag with a white square in its center. This design is the international code flag "P". The flag would let crew and passengers ashore know that they needed to get back to the ship. This would also let merchants in port know that they should settle their business with the ship as soon as possible.
Seeing the "Blue Peter" hoisted on the mast of a ship was an exciting sight for all! Crew and passengers were about to begin their adventure, and the people doing business with the ship would look forward to concluding their business. Be sure to ask captain Scott for more stories about the history of shipping and sea-fairing when you’re aboard.
M/V Blue Peter has been painstakingly restored and maintained by local wooden boat craftsmen for decades. Each decision to change or upgrade the equipment aboard, or to repair existing parts has been reviewed & approved by the owners and captains, as well as the local men and women who have made traditional yacht building their careers. The result is a safe, modern yacht that looks as though she just sailed out of the past.

Second to the aft deck, our guests enjoy spending time with Captain Scott in the wheelhouse when we’re underway. The view is stellar and you’ll hear a bit of history as we tour the Salish Sea, but get there early if you want a coveted spot on the guest bench. It can be standing-room-only up there!
